There have been some truly innovative developments over the past year at Palgrave Macmillan. We're growing as a company and wanted to share some of our progress with you.
In response to demand from academics, at the end of 2012 we launched our new mid-length, digital-first format, Palgrave Pivot. To say that Palgrave Pivot was well-received would be an understatement. In all my eighteen years of working in the publishing industry, I have never received emails from academics across the globe that I didn't know, so enthusiastic about the launch of a new product. We are on track to publish 100 Palgrave Pivots by this October. We plan to double that number for 2014, as the format has proven popular and we expect demand to grow.
And as the type of research we publish has evolved, so have the subjects. We have seen growth in our core subjects (for example politics) as our ties with those academic communities deepen, but Palgrave Macmillan is also investing in research across new sub-disciplines - from nuclear studies to journalism, financial crises and sport studies, you'll find the most cutting-edge research in the Humanities and Social Sciences on Palgrave Connect.
Improving our already diverse collections means that we continue to grow every year. Our 2014 collections will include 1858 titles, as opposed to 1373 this year. It goes without saying that quality is at the heart of what we do, and that all of our research undergoes rigorous peer review.
This time last year we also launched our "Build Your Own Collection" initiative, which enables you to pick and choose from a range of over 10,000 academic titles, without being limited to one subject area or size. Our first customer, the Minnesota Theological Library Association, used "Build Your Own Collection" to give the students of five Minnesota seminaries access to a customised library of over fifty religious, history and politics titles.
Going forward, we are committing to meeting the needs of our researchers by providing the best service possible, and looking forward to continuing developments in 2014 - watch this space.
We really value communication with our community, and welcome feedback from the librarians we work with. Please feel free to get in touch and tell us what you think.

Palgrave Macmillan has partnered with The CLOCKSS Archive to ensure preservation our scholarly ebooks in CLOCKSS's geographically and geopolitically distributed network of redundant archive nodes, located at 12 major research libraries around the world. This action provides for content to be freely available to everyone after a ''trigger event'' and ensures an author's work will be maximally accessible and useful over time.
From January 14, 2013 the Palgrave Macmillan online sales teams will assume responsibility for selling site licenses for the Palgrave Macmillan journals portfolio. You will now be able to purchase Palgrave Macmillan Journals from the same team as for Palgrave Macmillan ebooks and online reference. Customers do not have to do anything regarding this change as your new representative will be in touch. Site license administration and customer service queries will continue to be managed through the same systems and processes.
